How To Root and Install CWM Recovery On Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Easy Method

Warnings:

Below are some warning statements that you must be knowing before preparing to Root or Install Custom Rom in your Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Android Smartphone:
  • Rooting/Installing Custom ROM is not an authorized process hence you’ll be losing all your warranty benefits over your Sony Xperia Z1 Compact after Rooting/Installing it.
  • There are certain risks of damaging your Android Smartphone while Rooting/Installing Custom ROM in it. Hence, it is recommended that you proceed at your own risk and we are not to be held responsible even if your Smartphone gets damaged during or after completing the Rooting/Custom ROM installation process.
  • You might not receive any future official software or firmware updates after rooting andinstalling Custom ROM in your Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

Before You Begin:

  1. Only tested on Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
  2. Windows-based computer or laptop
  3. You need to unlock its bootloader. Click Here to unlock its bootloader. Please note that unlocking will reset your device completely. Backup your important data first.
  4. Download Sony Xperia Z1 Compact USB driver for Windows and install in your computer.
  5. Skip this step if you have installed the Sony PC Companion.
  6. Download and setup Android SDK on your PC. Follow full setup guide here.
  7. Enable USB Debugging on your device. Click Here, If you don’t know how to enable.
  8. Make sure your phone is charged to 60% 80% to avoid battery blackout and interruption during this tutorial.
  9. We recommend you make a backup on your data and media files before the tutorial.

How To Root and Install CWM Recovery:

  • Download and copy Z1c_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_FW.img ( DooMLoRD Custom Kernel Download from above) file to the platform-tools folder on your computer. This directory is found in Android SDK.
  • Now turn off the phone, then press and hold the Volume Up button and connect the device to the computer with a USB-cable to boot your device into Fastboot Mode.
  • Launch a command prompt in the platform-tools folder. To do this, press Shift + Right-click at an empty space in the folder where the Fastboot and the .img file are present. See picture below:

  • Now your device will reboot. CWM custom recovery is successfully installed in your device.
  • Copy the downloaded SuperUser zip file in root folder of your device.
  • Turn your phone off and then turn it on. Just as the notification LED lights up, press the Volume Up/Down key for a couple of times. You should now enter the CWM Recovery mode.
  • Using the volume keys, scroll to “install zip” option and select the UPDATE-SuperSU-vx.xx.zip.
  • Confirm the installation by pressing the Power button.
  • Finally, return to the main menu in CWM and select “reboot system now” option.
  • Now your device will reboot again.
  • SuperUser app is installed in your device. Now open Google Playstore and install Busybox installer in your device.
