I. Before You Begin
1. You will need to have custom recovery installed on your device for this to work. Use our guide on the same for help with this.
2. You will need to have an unlocked bootloader before you can proceed visit HTC Dev and select your device and follow instructions their.
3. Charge your device to 75% or more before you begin.
4. Back up anything you feel is important just in case.

III. Rooting the HTC J Butterfly
1. Connect your device to your PC and copy SU_Busybox_Package.zip to your SD card.
2. Power down your device and boot into recovery. To do this, press and hold the Volume Up + Down buttons. Press and release the Power button but continue holding the Vol Up + Down buttons. Once the menu appears, press the Volume Down button to highlight the Recovery option and the Volume Up button to select it. If Volume Up doesn’t work, use the Power key to select the option. On seeing the Android logo, press the Volume Up and Down buttons together to enter the recovery menu.
3. Once in TWRP, tap on Install.
4. Navigate to the location of SU_Busybox_Package.zip and select it.
5. Swipe the arrow to install the zip file.
6. Tap Reboot System to restart your device.
Once your device restarts, you should find the SuperSU app in your app drawer, which means that you now have root access to your device. Install a root-requiring app to verify this if you are still in doubt or use the Root Checker app to do a quick check.
