How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

Tablet market is now getting larger and expected to expand even more in the next few years. By targeting at the same market, Samsung Galaxy series tablet is now added in a new member, which is different from the Galaxy Tab series. It’s the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 which leads Samsung to the higher level of the market share in tablet competition. No doubt the tablet market is previously dominated by Apple iPad and Nexus 7, Samsung are more likely to see changes in the top tablet sales ranking with its latest Galaxy Note 8.0.

1. Before You Begin:

  1. Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 – GT-N5100 3G/WIFI ,GT-N5110 WIFI Only
  2. Windows-based computer or laptop
  3. Download Samsung Note 8.0 USB driver for Windows and install in your computer.
  4. Skip this step if you have installed the Samsung Kies.
  5. Enable USB Debugging on your device.
  6. Make sure your phone is charged to 60% 80% to avoid battery blackout and interruption during this tutorial.
  7. We recommend you make a backup on your data and media files before the tutorial.

2. Downloading Required Files:

  1. Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Toolkit

3. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0:

  1. Download Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Toolkit into your computer. Double click on the toolkit.exe file to install.
  2. The installation of toolkit will create a Shortcut on your computer desktop.
  3. With your device turned on, connect the device to computer via micro USB cable.
  4. Click on the toolkit icon on the desktop. For the first time, you will be asked if you want to check for update. Type “yes” if there is an update for your device.
  5. Once you have downloaded and installed the update, you will be shown with a Model Selection Screen to choose the right model and build of your device. Type “11” for GT-N5100 3G/WIFI with Android 4.1.2 BMC9-BMD1 build OR “21” for GT-I5110 WIFI with Android 4.1.2 BMC9-BMD1 build. Wait patiently for your model/build if it cannot found here.
  6. After you choose the model/build, the toolkit will download the boot image pack for your device. The downloaded boot image file will be extracted to the correct folders.
  7. You are now in the Main Menu of the toolkit. You shall see ADB MODE at the top of the Menu with device series number just below the ADB MODE. Device series number only shown if you have installed Samsung driver.
  8. If no series number shown, unplug your device. In computer, type “1” and this will installed device drives on your computer. Then plug in your phone again to proceed to the next step.
  9. Type “2” for root/unroot options. Under ROOTING OPTIONS, there are total of 6 rooting options whereby each of them perform other function in additional to root.
  10. Type “1” if you are to root your device without any additional action. Type “2” to root and install Busybox on your device.
  11. If you have no specific requirement on which recovery to be installed on your device, type “3” to automatically root and install custom recovery.
  12. Once you have key in the preference option, your device will now receiving root/recovery files from computer.
  13. After the process completes, you may reboot your device.
  14. Download root checker to check your root status.
