Update Your Verizon LG V10 (VS990) To Android Marshmallow 22A

Verizon LG V10

Things You Will Need

You will require a Verizon LG V10 and a PC to update our device using this guide. You will also need the following files for the update process:
  • Firmware

The update for Android Marshmallow (22A)| Link
  • LGUP (LGUPV10.rar)

Software used for installing firmware on LG devices| Link
  • LG USB Drivers

Usb drivers required for LGUP to recognize your device| Link

Steps To Follow

Step 1. Download the firmware file on your PC from the link given above.
Step 2. Now download and install Lg USB drivers on your PC from the link given above.
Step 3. Now download the LGUPV10.rar from the link given above. Extract the contents of this rar file using any unzipping tool you have on your PC. On extracting you will get two files and a folder named ‘common’.
Step 4. To install LGUP you will need to first install the LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_1_18.msi file on your PC and then you will have to install the second file named ‘LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi‘. Now copy the ‘common’ folder to this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model.
Step 5. Now connect your phone to your PC using a USB cable. Then start the LGUP software on your PC. You should see your device connected in LGUP software if LGUP does not recognize your device then take out the battery and insert it again while keeping he USB cable connected. Your device should restart and you would see your devices as connected in the LGUP software.
Step 6. Now if you want to keep your data and want to upgrade to Marshmallow proceed with following steps(without wiping any info/data):
  • Choose File Path as the path for the firmware (KDZ) file you have downloaded.
  • Make sure BIN file is ticked.
  • Also, make sure you have clicked Upgrade.
  • Now press Start and wait for few minutes.
Step 8. If you want to do a full wipe and install Marshmallow update then follow the steps given below:
  • Change File Path to point it to the Marshmallow KDZ file you have downloaded.
  • Shut down LGUP(Close it).
  • Now open LGUP again. You will notice that the KDZ file is already showing in the FILE PATH section.
  • Now select REFURBISH and make sure BIN file is ticked.
  • Press Start and wait for few minutes.
Step 9. Wait for the process to finish, then reboot your device.
Congrats! You have successfully updated your Verizon LG V10 to Android Marshmallow with firmware version 22A.

How to Root AT&T LG V10 Running Android Lollipop 5.1.1

We will be flashing rooted firmware on LG V10 using a PC. Thanks to XDA developer tungkick, who made the rooted firmware and shared with us all. You will have to backup your device data as this procedure will wipe everything off your phone. The simplest way is to use LG Bridge software, it lets you easily backup and restore data on your LG devices. Warning: Rooting your device will void your manufacturer’s warranty, so proceed at your own risk. Any harm to your device will be your responsibility only.

Things You Will Need

  • AT&T LG V10 (H900) and a PC

  • rootedsystemh900.zip

    Rooted firmware file that we will be flashing on your LG V10 | Link1Link2
  • LGUP

Software used for flashing firmware on LG devices | Link
  • LG Drivers

USB drivers required for LGUP to recognize your device| Link

Steps To Follow

Step 1. Download the rootedsystemh900.zip file from the link given above and extract the file using any unzipping tool you have on your PC.
Step 2. Download LG drivers from the link given above and install them on your PC, just like any other software.
Step 3. Now extract the .rar file again using any file unzipping tool you have on your PC. On extracting the .rar file you will get the .tot file needed for rooting your LG V10.
Step 4. Now we will install LGUP, a software used to install firmware on your Lg V10. To do so, extract the lgupnew.zip.This will give you two files LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi and LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_1_18.msi. 
Step 5. Run  LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi file first and then run LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_1_18.msi. This will install the LGUP software on your PC.
Step 6. Now you will have to copy the “common” folder that should be present in the zip file you extracted in Step 1 and move it to this location “C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model”.
Step 7. Now move to your phone and enable USB Debugging. To do so first enable Developer Options by going into Settings> About Phone and then tapping Build Number multiple times. Once your phone shows a toast message that “You are now a Developer!” you have successfully enabled Developer Options.
Step 8. Now open the Developer Options and enable the option that says USB Debugging. Now plug in your phone to your PC using a USB cable.
Step 9. Run the LGUP software using Start menu of your Windows.
Step 10. Select your phone. Then for “BIN File” select the “rootedsystemvs.tot” file you extracted in step 3. Finally, click Start.
Step 11. Reboot your device and update the SuperSU application and then reboot your device again.
Congrats! you have successfully achieved root access on your AT&T LG V10. You may confirm the root access using the root checker application.

Root LG G Pro 2 :

  • Download and extract ioroot.zip file on your PC.
  • Connect your device to PC with USB cable.
  • If you are a Windows user, right click on root-windows.bat file and Run as administrator option. Mac and Linux users can use the “root-mac.sh” and “root-linux.sh” respectively.
  • A CMD window will appear on desktop asking you to press any key to continue .
  • Press any key to start rooting process.
  • When it is finished, your LG G2 will be rooted and reboot automatically.
Congrats!!! your LG G2 is successfully rooted now. You will find SuperSu app in App Drawer.

How to Install Custom Recovery on the LG Optimus G Pro (E98x)


I.  Before You Begin

1.  You will need to be rooted for this procedure to work.  Use our guide here, if you are not rooted already.
2.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you start and back up everything you feel is important to you before you start.
3.  Following this procedure will void your warranty if you have any left.  Only continue if you are okay with this.
4.   This procedure should work with all variants of the E98x model (E980, E985, E988 and E989) except for the AT&T E980 version with the recent 10P firmware update

II.  Necessary Downloads

FreeGee app (the free or donate version; if you really appreciate the hard work the developer has put into this, we suggest you go with the donate version)

III.  Installing Custom Recovery on the Optimus G Pro

1.  Once the app is installed, open it up and you should be asked for Superuser access.  Grant Superuser privileges.
2.  Tap on the Unlock my phone button and tap on I agree to the warning popup.
3.  On the next Disable LGE Security popup, tap on Yes.  The app will now show you the relevant custom recoveries for your device.
4.  From the drop-down menu, select your preferred custom recovery.  We advise you go with the TWRP version as it is touch enabled but you could also choose ClockworkMod Recovery if that’s what you like.
5.  Once selected, tap on Unlock my phone and tap on I agree for the warning again.  The app will now download the selected boot image and recovery image to your device, and back up your original boot and recovery images.
6.  Once installed, you should see the ‘Success.  Your [device name] has been liberated!‘ message.  Tap on the Yay! button.

How to Root the LG Optimus G Pro (E98x)

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you start to prevent unwanted shutdowns during the procedure.
2.  Make sure you have the necessary drivers in place before you go ahead with the procedure.  This is extremely important as your device needs to be properly recognized by your Windows PC for this procedure to work.
3.  Although data loss is unlikely, back up everything important just in case.
4.  This procedure will work with all variants of the E98x model (E980, E985, E988 and E989) except for the AT&T E980 version with the recent 10P firmware update.

II.  Necessary Downloads

III.  Rooting the Optimus G Pro

1.  Enable USB debugging your device.  To do this, go to Settings > Development options and tick the USB debugging checkbox.  If you don’t find the Development options section, go to Settings > About phone and keep tapping on the build number until you see the ‘you are now a developer‘ message.  You should now find the development options listed under Settings.
2.  Make sure that your device is Charge mode and connect it to your Windows PC.  If there are any drivers being installed at this point, let them do so before continuing.
3.  Extract E980-UniversalRoot.zip to a folder on your desktop for easier access.
4.  From the extracted folder, double-click on CurrentRoot.bat to begin the rooting procedure.
5.  Follow the on-screen instructions and when prompted to change your device mode to MTP, do it.  If there are any drivers being installed at this point, let them do so before continuing.  Hit any key on your keyboard to continue after this.
6.  Once your device reboots, disconnect your device from your PC.

How to Root the LG Optimus G Pro (F240)


I.  Before You Begin

1.  This procedure works only on the F240 version of the LG Optimus G Pro before you install the value pack update that is available now.  You will not be able to upgrade to the value pack after rooting!
2.  There is currently no unrooting solution available; so make sure that you really need root access before you proceed.
3.  Back up anything you feel is important and charge your device to 75% or more before you begin.
4.  Make sure that you have the necessary LG drivers installed before you start.

II.  Necessary Downloads

LG Optimus G Pro Root (optimusforums.com).rar [File attached to this post; requires registration at the site to be able to download]

III.  Rooting the Optimus G Pro

1.  Extract LG Optimus G Pro Root (optimusforums.com).rar to a folder on your desktop.
2.  Enable USB debugging on your device.  To do this, go to Settings > Development and tick the USB debugging checkbox.
3.  Enable installation of apps from unknown sources.  To do this, go to Settings > Security and tick theUnknown sources checkbox.
4.  Connect your device to your Windows PC in LG Software mode using the microUSB cable that came with the device.  Your PC should install any drivers needed at this point.
5.  From the extracted folder, double-click on Root.bat to start the procedure.
6.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

  • If your device is running on Jellybean update to Android 4.4 Kitkat from Here
  • Enable USB Debugging in your Nexus 4. Read guide here how to enable USB Debugging in Android devices.
  • Make sure your Nexus 4 is charged al least 60%.
  • Download & Install Latest Nexus 4 drivers in your PC.

How To Update Nexus 5:

  • Please follow all steps given above before you begin to next steps.
  • Download the Nexus 4 Android 4.4.1 update file in your PC or Device and rename the update file to update.zip.
  • Now connect your phone to the PC with USB cable and move the rename zip file update.zip to your SD card. Make sure the file is in the root folder.
  • Now turn off your device and boot it in Bootloader mode.To do this Press and hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons till you see the Fastboot menu.
  • Follow the navigation instructions on the screen. Press Volume Up button several times till you see RECOVERY and press Power button to select it. You will get an exclamation mark now. Again hold your Volume Up + Power buttons. You should now see the Recovery Mode menu.
  • Now you are in Recovery mode. From the recovery menu click on the update from sd card option. Now select the update.zip file confirm selection with Power button and install Android 4.4.1 update in your device.
  • After completion of update, your device will reboot automatically or select reboot system now from recovery menu.

How To Root & Install Recovery In Google Nexus 5 On Android 4.4.1:

  • Please follow all the steps given above.
  • Connect your device to PC with USB Cable and move SuperSU v1.80 zip file in SD card.
  • Copy CWM Custom Recovery .img file in C://fastboot folder (Read Download & Install Android SDK in your windows PC article first).
  • Turn off you phone and boot it in Bootloader mode. To do this Press Volume Down + Power keys for a few seconds till you see some text on the screen. This is Bootloader Mode.

  3. Download the root package in you PC and place it on your desktop.
  4. Now Turn off your device take out the battery and reinsert it.
  5. Now boot your device in Download Mode (Press & Hold the Volume Down Key and connect your device to PC with USB cable).
  6. Your are in Download Mode now.
  7. Now open the folder where KDZ updater is extracted and Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe as Administrator (Right click and select run as administrator).
  8. Select type as 3GQCT and Phone mode as DIAG.
  9. Click on the folder icon and locate the 20d+root+cwm.kdz which is downloaded by you.
  10. Once all this done, Click on Launch software update.
  11. During the process KDZ updater may shows not responding...(Don't Afraid).
  12. After the process complete your device will reboot.
  13. Goto Playstore Download & Install SuperUser , launch him and update to the latest binary

  4. Enable USB Debugging in your device.Click Here if you don’t know how to enable.
  5. Your device must be charged 50% minimum.

3. How To Root LG Optimus G:

  1. Please follow all the steps of Before You Begin section first.
  2. Download & Extract the Root Package files in a empty folder of your PC.
  3. Connect your device to PC with USB cable.
  4. Let him complete the USB drivers installation first.
  5. Now open the folder where the Root Package is extracted.
  6. Now locate & open the RunMe.bat file from the extracted folder.
  7. Follow the onscreen instructions given by RunMe.bat file.
  8. After the successful process i will root your device automatically.
