Install Android 7.0 Nougat on Nexus 4 [Android 7.0 AOSP ROM]

Android 7.0 Nougat is finally released and available for most the latest Nexus phones and tablets. But Nexus 4 is not on the list, so it mean that Nexus 4 users will not receive the Android 7.0 Nougat. And they have to stay with their current ROM. But don’t worry you can update Nexus 4 unofficially. Yes, all credit goes to the XDA developer zaclimon, who released the initial build of Android 7.0 AOSP ROM for Nexus 4. To install this Android 7.0 AOSP ROM. All, you need a phone with Custom TWRP recovery. Let’s take a look how to download and install Android 7.0 Nougat on Nexus 4

This guide is only for the Nexus 4 Android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices; It may hard brick your device. So, first, confirm your phone model number in your android phone settings. To do this Go the Settings page of your device and check out the “About Device” option.

1) Download both Android 7.0 ROM and Gapps from above and save it on your Nexus 4 phone.
2) Now time to Boot your device into Recovery mode by press and hold “Volume Down+Power Button.”
3) In recovery mode do a Factory Reset. Go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Select Wipe cache, Dalvik cache, System, and data and swipe to confirm it.
3) Now go back. Select Install and locate the ROM zip file & swipe to Install the ROM file. After the process completes, Flash the GApps zip file.
5) Now wipe cache & Dalvik cache again and Reboot your device.

How to Unroot the Nexus 6P (Toolkit Method)

I. Before You Begin

This will only work on Windows as it requires a toolkit to make it a lot easier that requires Windows.
This will wipe your device so please back it up before beginning.

II. Download & Install the Toolkit

  1. Head to the toolkit developer’s site here and download the latest version of the toolkit and save it to your desktop (donate to him if, after all of this, you find this toolkit helpful).
  2. Right-click the exe that you just downloaded and select Run As Administrator and install it.
  3. When it opens select your model and build number and click Apply (you can find this info in the Settings > About section of your device).

III. Enable USB Debugging

  1. On the phone, head to Settings > About and then continuously tap on Build Number until it says you are a developer.
  2. Tap Back then tap the new Developer Options menu that appeared and scroll down to USB Debugging and enable that, then enable OEM Unlock as well.
  3. Plug the Nexus in via the USB cable to your computer.
  4. A dialog should pop up on your phone at this point saying “Allow USB Debugging?”. When it does check Always Allow and tap OK.
If that dialog didn’t pop up, head to my How To Setup ADB tutorial and follow those instructions to get the drivers working, then return here when that’s done to continue.
After that, the toolkit will tell you need to download some files, click “Download + Update All File Dependencies” and wait for that.

IV. Unroot the Nexus 6P

  1. Click Flash Stock + Unroot in the toolkit and follow the prompts for it to download the appropriate stock firmware and then it’ll flash it to the device.
  2. Once done, the device will reboot and you’ll be back to the stock firmware, but if you want to also relock the bootloader, you can do so below.

V. Relock the Bootloader

  1. Click OEM Lock in the toolkit and follow the prompts. It’ll reboot the phone into bootloader mode and relock the bootloader.
  2. After that, it should reboot the phone and you’re all set.

How to Update Nexus 4 to Android 4.4.1 KOT49E KitKat OTA Official Firmware

Before You Begin:

  • Backup device storage, SMS, contacts, calenders and other stuff (This procedure won’t wipe any of your present data on the phone, but we prefer to be at a safe side, always)
  • If your device is running on Jellybean update to Android 4.4 Kitkat from Here
  • Enable USB Debugging in your Nexus 4. Read guide here how to enable USB Debugging in Android devices.
  • Make sure your Nexus 4 is charged al least 60%.
  • Download & Install Latest Nexus 4 drivers in your PC.

How To Update Nexus 5:

  • Please follow all steps given above before you begin to next steps.
  • Download the Nexus 4 Android 4.4.1 update file in your PC or Device and rename the update file to update.zip.
  • Now connect your phone to the PC with USB cable and move the rename zip file update.zip to your SD card. Make sure the file is in the root folder.
  • Now turn off your device and boot it in Bootloader mode.To do this Press and hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons till you see the Fastboot menu.
  • Follow the navigation instructions on the screen. Press Volume Up button several times till you see RECOVERY and press Power button to select it. You will get an exclamation mark now. Again hold your Volume Up + Power buttons. You should now see the Recovery Mode menu.
  • Now you are in Recovery mode. From the recovery menu click on the update from sd card option. Now select the update.zip file confirm selection with Power button and install Android 4.4.1 update in your device.
  • After completion of update, your device will reboot automatically or select reboot system now from recovery menu.
  • First boot will take more time. Be patient ...

How To Root & Install Recovery In Google Nexus 5 On Android 4.4.1:

  • Please follow all the steps given above.
  • Connect your device to PC with USB Cable and move SuperSU v1.80 zip file in SD card.
  • Copy CWM Custom Recovery .img file in C://fastboot folder (Read Download & Install Android SDK in your windows PC article first).
  • Turn off you phone and boot it in Bootloader mode. To do this Press Volume Down + Power keys for a few seconds till you see some text on the screen. This is Bootloader Mode.
  • Now go to C://Fastboot directory on your PC and open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt).
  • A Command Prompt will appear on your PC screen.

  • After completion for installation, Go back to main menu of recovery and select reboot system now.

  • Make sure your device is charged minimum 70%.
  • Enable USB Debugging in your device.Click Here if you don't know how to enable.

  • Connect your nexus device to your computer.
  • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Android SDK\sdk\platform-tools on your computer.
  • Now copy the extracted files (from update package,Copy the extracted files not the extracted folder) to the path mentioned above (C:\Program Files\Android SDK\sdk\platform-tools).

How to Root and Install Custom Recovry on the Nexus 7 (WiFi/3G) running Android 4.3

1. Before Your Begin:

  1. This method is tested on Nexus 7 running on Android 4.3 (Please don’t try on other devices or Contact us for tutorials for your device).
  2. Your Device Bootloader must be unlocked.Follow This method for unlocking
  3. You Need a Windows based PC or Laptop for this procedure.
  4. Enable USB Debugging in your device (Don’t Know How To??? Follow this)
  5. Download & Install Google Nexus 7  USB Drivers and then connect you device with PC for complete the installation.
  6. Your device must be charged 50% minimum,If not please charge your device first.
  7. Make a Backup of your device data for safety.

2. Download Required Files:

  1. TWRP Recovery 2.6.0.0 (For Nexus 7 Wifi Only Version)
  2. TWRP Recovery 2.6.0.0 (For Nexus 7 GSM/3G Version)
  3. SuperSU zip file
  4. Fastboot+ADB(20926)

3.  Install Of Custom TWRP Recovery in Nexus 7:

  1. Download TWRP Recovery Img file in your PC and rename it recovery.img
  2. Copy the recovery.img file in C:\fastboot\win32\  folder.
  3. Connect you device to PC with USB Cable.
  4. Open the folder C:\fastboot\win32\  and Press & hold Shift button and press Right Click of mouse and select Open Command Window Here.
  5. Now type adb reboot bootloader in cmd for booting your device into bootloader mode OR you boot it by pressing & hold Volume Down + Power Button.
  6. Now when your device Bootloader mode connect it to PC  with USB cable.
  7. Type  fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and hit Enter.
  8. Custom Recovery will be flashed to device.

4. How To Root Nexus 7:

  1. Download SuperSU package from Download Section above.
  2. Copy it to the Root of Internal/External memory.
  3. Connect you device to PC with USB Cable.
  4. Open the folder C:\fastboot\win32\  and Press & hold Shift button and press Right Click of mouse and select Open Command Window Here.
  5. Now type adb reboot recovery in cmd for booting your device into bootloader mode OR you boot it by pressing & hold Volume Down + Power Button and you are in Bootloader Mode now press Volume Down twice and select Recovery Mode by pressing Power Button.
  6. Select Install in Recovery Mode,Now locate & Select SuperSU zip file.
  7. Now Swipe to Confirm Flash (It is for confirmation Swipe it).
  8. It take less than a minute to process and you should see a Success message.
  9. Now Reboot your device.
Congrats!!! you Nexus 7 is rooted now...

  4. Open the folder C:\fastboot\win32\  and Press & hold Shift button and press Right Click of mouse and select Open Command Window Here.
  5. Now type adb reboot recovery in cmd for booting your device into bootloader mode OR you boot it by pressing & hold Volume Down + Power Button and you are in Bootloader Mode now press Volume Down twice and select Recovery Mode by pressing Power Button.
  6. Select Install in Recovery Mode,Now locate & Select SuperSU zip file.
  7. Now Swipe to Confirm Flash (It is for confirmation Swipe it).
  8. It take less than a minute to process and you should see a Success message.
  9. Now Reboot your device.

How To Unlock Bootloader Of All Google Nexus Devices

1. Before You Begin:By EditAndroid

  1. This method works on All Nexus Devices (Nexus One,Nexus S,Google Nexus,Nexus 4,Nexus 7,Nexus 10,Nexus 2013)
  2. You need Windows Based PC for this method.
  3. Download Nexus USB Drivers & Install them (Connect your device to PC with USB Cable for Complete of installation).
  4. Enable USB Debugging of your device.Follow This method if you don't know how to enable.
  5. Your Device must be charged 50% minimum.
  6. Make a backup of your device's data.

2. Download Required Files:

  1. Fastboot+ADB(20926)

3. Unlocking Bootloader of Nexus Devices:

  1. Turn Off your device and then Boot it into Bootloader Mode:
  2. For Nexus 4 & Nexus 7 (Press & Hold Volume Down + Power Buttons) For Other Nexus Devices (Press & Hold Volume Up+Volume Down+Power Button)
  3. Download & Extract Fastboot zip file in Local C drive of you PC.
  4. From the Extracted Folder Goto to Win32 Copy all the files and paste them at C:\\fastboot folder (C:\\ is Local Disk C)
  5. Now connect you device with PC in Bootloader Mode.
  6. Open the folder fastboot from C drive and Press & hold Shift button and press Right Click of mouse and select Open Command Window Here.
  7. Now Type in cmd fastboot oem unlock.
  8. You shall see a Unlock Page on your device screen.
  9. Use Volume Up/Down and Power Button for Confirm unlocking.
  10. Your device should reboot now.
